Faced with a world undergoing profound change, marked by intensifying crises and inequalities, our organisation is unveiling its 2026–2030 strategy. The aim: to adapt in order to preserve our ability to act on behalf of the most vulnerable.

A rapidly changing global context

Prolonged conflicts, mass population displacement, the effects of climate change: humanitarian needs are now reaching unprecedented levels. At the same time, available resources are under strain, and operational contexts are becoming more complex.

It is within this challenging environment that HI has developed its new strategy, following a consultation process involving its teams, partners, local organisations and those affected.

A clear ambition: to make a greater impact

Through this strategy, HI reaffirms its mission: to work alongside people with disabilities and vulnerable populations, meeting their essential needs, defending their rights and promoting their inclusion.

The objective is clear: to maximise the impact of the organisation’s work by 2030, whilst transforming its practices to remain relevant and effective.

Ten axes to guide our work

The 2026–2030 strategy is structured around ten key axes:

  1. Strengthen our emergency response capability
  2. Increase our support for vulnerable migrants and refugees with disabilities
  3. Defend and promote humanitarian law, fundamental rights and civic space
  4. Promote the leadership of local actors
  5. Sharpen our programmatic approach
  6. Reinforce our ability to engage with institutional donors
  7. Increase our private fundraising, with a focus on major giving and legacies fundraising
  8. Streamline our head offices and empower HI’s five operational regions
  9. Become more agile, sustainable and frugal
  10. Increase the diversity of our organisation

A collective strategy rooted in reality

The 2026–2030 strategy is based on a firm conviction: sustainable solutions are built with the people concerned and as closely as possible to local realities.

By strengthening its partnerships and providing greater support to local actors, HI aims to contribute to more effective, inclusive and sustainable responses.

Heading towards 2030

With this new strategy, HI reaffirms its commitment to remaining a leading player in humanitarian action and inclusive development.

In a rapidly changing world, the organisation has chosen to evolve in order to continue defending the rights, dignity and participation of everyone.
