Thanks to the ReliefEU Capacities, HI/Atlas Logistique is supporting humanitarian actors in Lebanon to deliver essential goods to the most vulnerable populations.
In the context of escalating conflict and worsening humanitarian needs, these logistics services have become a vital part of the response.
In this interview, Simon Chahine, Field Coordinator at CESVI, shares how HI/Atlas Logistique’s warehousing and transport services are helping his organisation provide aid to those it supports.
CESVI1 has been operating in Lebanon since 2001, implementing both emergency and development programs supported by institutional and private donors. Since 2015, our work has focused on providing basic assistance, education, protection, and livelihoods support. Following the recent escalation of the conflict, we also launched emergency response efforts in 2024.
As part of the coordination efforts between humanitarian organisations aimed at improving the delivery of humanitarian aid, we have been in contact with the HI/Atlas Logistique team since November 2024. A few months later, in January 2025, we formalised our collaboration with a partnership agreement.
CESVI doesn’t operate its own warehouse in Lebanon, and for large-scale transportation of humanitarian goods, we typically rely on third parties. Atlas Logistique’s warehouse in Beirut was a major asset. It helped us avoid delays and optimise costs, both of which are critical when responding to urgent needs. In addition, the transportation services provided for our activities in Baalbek ensured the smooth delivery of winter kits, including warm clothing and blankets to families facing harsh winter conditions.
For our recent winter campaign, the Atlas Logistique team supported us in preparing customised winter kits for each family, taking the number of family members and clothing sizes into account. Their flexible setup and organised workspace allowed for quick and efficient preparation, enabling us to distribute urgent assistance to vulnerable families during the winter period.
Yes, absolutely. The services are truly supportive for organisations in need of warehousing and transportation. The collaboration process is straightforward and user-friendly and the professionalism and flexibility of the Atlas Logistique team make for a highly positive and effective partnership.
