ALERT - On 3rd December starts the European Disability and Development Week 2018

For the 3^rd year running, the International Disability and Development Consortium (IDDC) is championing the International Day of Persons with Disabilities by organising the European Disability and Development Week.The week takes place from the 3^rd December, International Day of Persons with Disabilities, to the 10^th December, celebrating the International Day for Human Rights.

Objectives of the week of action

Together with its Member States, the European Union (EU) is the biggest donor on International Cooperation. It has ratified the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) in 2011 and has been one of the most enthusiastic promoters of the 2030 Agenda. IDDC promotes the European Disability and Development Week as a yearly celebration to reinforce the message of leave no one behind towards the institutions of the European Union (Commission, Parliament) and within the European Union.Specifically the week encourages development stakeholders to;

1. Showcase the breadth and variety of disability inclusion in international development and humanitarian action.
2. Encourage solidarity and participation across Europe for disability inclusion.
3. Strengthen interaction between decision-makers and representatives of persons with disabilities.
