State representatives of 23 States from Latin America and the Caribbean met 5-6 December in in Santiago, Chile, for a two-day regional meeting aimed at better protecting civilians from the use of explosive weapons in populated areas.

The Développement Cooperation Report 2018 focuses on the “Leave no one behind” principle and analyses how OECD Member States align with the ambition of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

The report, published on Friday, indicates that 1.35 million people die on the road each year. Road traffic injuries are now the leading killer of children and youth aged 5 to 29 years.

The Journey Access Tool (JAT) combines access and road safety audit approaches to identify barriers to transport on journeys taken by persons with disabilities.

From 25 November, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, to 10 December, Human Rights Day, the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence (GBV) Campaign is a time to galvanize action to end violence against women and girls around the world. Against all women and girls, including those living with disabilities. The time for change is here and now.

Un jour en Syrie, Ibrahim a entendu des échanges de tirs près du lieu où il se trouvait. Il a fui du côté opposé. C’est là que les bombes sont tombées. Au début de la guerre en Syrie, Hussein et sa famille quittent leur ville natale pour se réfugier en Jordanie. Depuis plusieurs années, le doyen de la maison enchaîne les complications médicales. Grâce au partenariat de HI avec un centre de réhabilitation local, l'arthrose du genou dont il souffre est maintenant prise en charge par une équipe de kinésithérapeutes.

The Landmine Monitor 2018, published today, reported a third year of exceptionally high casualties caused by landmines, particularly improvised explosive devices (IEDs), and explosive remnants of war (ERW).
